Women’s History Month

In celebration of Women’s History Month, the Monroe County Women’s Commission will present five local women with awards which celebrate their achievements.  This year’s theme is ‘Nevertheless,She Persisted: Honoring Women who fight All Forms of Discrimination Against Women”.


The presentation will take place during the Monroe County Board of Commissions meeting on Wed. March 7 at 9:30 am, held in the Administration Center, One Quaker Plaza, off 6th Stroudsburg. The building is near the courthouse.

Light refreshments will be served following the ceremony.


Women to be honored for their work include:


Dr. Kimberly Adams, – Education

Hope Christman,      – Girls Sports

Claudette Williams   – Military

Kate Rosset              – Social Services

Jen Dunne                – Social Services


The Women’s commission will begin the month’s events by showing a film celebrating Women’s Achievements, on Tues. March 6, at the ESU Beers Lecture Hall, at 4:30 pm. The movie ‘Hidden Figures’ tells the story of three amazing women who persisted and succeeded against all odds while working at NASA during the early days of the Space program.
