Join the Parks and Recreation Board!

Come Join the Parks and Recreation Board!

We have a lot of exciting things planned! Like the first ever Trunk or Treat Halloween event for kids at Resica Park. And the new park now being developed on Coolbaugh Road, which will include Community Gardens, picnic tables, and other amenities, and the new Dog Park being developed at Leroy’s Lane.

And now there is an opening on our Parks and Recreation Board!

Township events and activities simply aren’t possible without input from residents, and getting involved is a great way to meet new people and learn more about the community. Do you have 2 or 3 hours a year? We’d love to have you help with an event, such as the Easter Egg Hunt or Halloween Trunk or Treat. Do you have a little more time, and a passion for plants or pets? Great, we’d love to work with you on a project for one of our parks! Or, if you’ve got a real Passion for Parks, we’d love to have you as a Board member on the Parks and Recreation Board.Just send us your Letter of Interest, and/or fill out an short application (just email or PM us and we’ll send one to you!)

Middle Smithfield Township currently has three local parks, each with a unique character and recreational offerings. You can see them here. Resica Park (located at Resica Elementary School on Rt. 402) has a playground, walking trail and sports activities. Kids’ activities like the annual Egg Hunt and Trunk or Treat usually take place here.

Echo Lake Park (located directly off Route 209, across from Middle Smithfield Presbyterian Church) also has field space for sports, as well as picnic tables, a walking trail, and a pavilion that can be rented out for family or group events. This park hosts activities like community yard sales and the annual township Christmas Tree Lighting.

The Judy Putek Memorial Park (located at 60 Municipal Drive, just beyond the township building) currently offers the area’s only off-leash, fenced-in Dog Park.Volunteers are always needed to help keep the park in great shape for our four-legged friends!

If you would like to volunteer for a specific event or get involved with particular park, please let us know by sending an email with your contact information and any special interests to parks&, and we’ll put you in touch with the appropriate Coordinator. Any amount of time you can offer is deeply appreciated, there are lots of ways to help out! If you would like to learn more about the Parks & Recreation Committee, meetings are held on the first Monday of every month, 6:30 PM at the Township Building. They are open to the public, feel free to drop by and see how it all works!
