Fall Township Cleanup: 1000 Feet of Street.

1000 Feet of Street

Middle Smithfield Township, 17th November ,2014:Middle Smithfield Township’s Litter and Beautification Sub-committee is proud of all volunteers and Township staff, who participated in this fall’s 1000 Feet of Street event. The event took place on Saturday, November 15th, from 8:00pm through noon.  Over 140 Boy Scouts and Township Staff braved the elements and convened to clean up our Township roads. Starting at 8:00am, volunteers split into groups, covering over 12 miles of road within the Township—parts of Route 402, Route 209, and Sellersville Drive.

The Township would like to commend  the Boy Scouts on their hard work this past weekend. Thanks to the 140 Boy scouts involved, the clean-up effort covered a shorter time-span than initially allotted. As a testament to the Boy Scouts’ rule—“Always leave the campground cleaner than you found it”— our  Roads were indeed cleaner than they found them! Participating troops included:

Cradle of Liberty Council,PA                                     Troop 134 Monmouth Council, NJ
Resica Falls Scout Reservation,PA                            Troop 406 Suffolk County Council, NJ
Troop 449 Cradle of Liberty Council, PA                 Troop 403 Suffolk County Council, NY
Troop 92 Patriots Path Council, NJ                           Troop 312 Patriots Path Council, NJ

Given the successful turn-out this year, the Litter and Beautification committee hopes to carry on with this tradition each year.
