Precautionary Boil Water Advisory Lifted

FROM PENNSYLVANIA AMERICAN WATER:

Pennsylvania American Water customers in Smithfield and Middle Smithfield Townships no longer have to boil their water before use. Acceptable test results were obtained from samples collected on August 14 and 15, and the Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection has authorized lifting of the precautionary advisory.

This notice applies to residents of the Country Club of Poconos and Birch Acre developments, who were notified via an autodialer system of the precautionary boil water advisory.

The boil advisory was issued August 14 due to a storm-related electrical issue that caused the temporary loss of chlorine disinfection in the treatment process.

Pennsylvania American Water thanks its customers for their patience and cooperation during this event. For more information, contact Pennsylvania American Water’s customer service center at (800) 565-7292.
