The Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA)_ has created a program especially for community members called CERT. CERT stands for Community Emergency Response Team. This is a team of specially trained first responders made up of those people right in our neighborhood, community and associations. The training prepares individuals in neighborhoods, workplaces and schools to take a more active part in the emergency management planning for their immediate area and to prepare themselves and others for disasters. This program is one that will train members of the community to assist and supplement our emergency response agencies with their work.
