                   Judy Putek Memorial Park Dedication

The Dedication of the Judy Putek Memorial Park was held on July 24, 2008

 

The Judy Putek Memorial Park is located at 60 Municipal Drive.  This park has been dedicated in memory of Judy Putek, a long time environmentalist and advocate of open space who was a very active member of the Middle Smithfield Township community.  Judy was extremely instrumental in acquiring grants for the acquisition of this parcel and others in the township.   On May 21, 2004, with the hard work of Judy and others, the township purchased 60 Municipal Drive with the Monroe County Open Space Initiative Grant program, thereby preserving 12.837 acres in our township.  Judy passed away very unexpectedly in 2007.  A Dedication service was held on July 24, 2008 to honor Judy and officially name the park.  The firm of Barry Isett & Associates has been chosen to develop the Master Site Plan for the park and work continues on that.  The park has been set aside for passive recreation to complement the active recreation available at Echo Lake Park and Resica Park.   Walking paths wind through fields and pastures, providing an excellent habitat for flora and fauna.  Bring your binoculars-warblers love this park!!
