Each municipality in Monroe County has an Open Space Committee.  When the referendum was passed, the county identified six multi-municipal regions to be studied by a regional committee composed of representatives of each municipal committee.  The Eastern Monroe Regional Open Space committee meets every fourth Thursday at 7:00 p.m. at the township building.  Meetings are open to the public.

The Eastern Monroe  Committee selected the consulting firm of Urban Research and Development Corporation (UDRC) from Bethlehem, Pennsylvania to assist in developing the plan.  URDC has proposed a 12 month time frame for the plan. URDC has gathered background information about the region and developed maps of the region illustrating characteristics important in determining potential open space acquisitions.  The process will culminate in a plan detailing which areas each municipality should try to acquire and how those areas should be used.
