On March 4, 2019 all residents should have received a letter from the County regarding the County-wide reassessment with notification of what your tentative property value is for your parcel(s). For more information, such as the property details and comparables used to calculate the re-assessment values, you will have to check out the Tyler Technologies link on the county website (we posted it below in the timetable.) For general information on the reassessment, you can find that information on the county website at www.MonroeCountyPA.gov/reassessment.
This weekend, all residents should have received the first of two tax bills residents will receive during the year: March = the library / township / county tax bill (31.85 mills)
and August = the East Stroudsburg Area School District Tax Bill (177.86 mills).
The tax bill residents just received will have the property parcel number, and the 2019 assessed values for land and building (these assessed values are, as they always have been, 25% of the perceived market value.)
The new 2020 proposed county assessments just released are 100% of the perceived market value (so if you want to compare past market value with the new proposed market value, you will have to multiply the value you see on your tax bill by 4.)
If you still have questions after reviewing the information regarding your proposed re-assessment, and visiting http://www.monroecountypa.gov/…/Reassess…/Pages/default.aspx
please call the county office at 570-517-3133.
A a friendly reminder, here is the County’s reassessment schedule:
March 1, 2019 – Property owners will receive a document that shows the tentative values assigned to their properties. At the same time, a web site will be made available (see end of paragraph) to explain how values were set. This site will also show the values assigned to properties throughout the County.
March 1 through June 30, 2019 – Property owners who believe there is an error in the way their property was valued can schedule an informal review to point out the possible inaccuracies.
July 1, 2019 – Based on the information collected during the informal review, property owners will receive a copy of the certified valuation of their property.
July 1 through August 9, 2019 – Owners who believe their property’s assessment is incorrect can schedule a formal appeal with an Auxiliary Board of Assessment Revision
November 15, 2019 – Based on the results of the formal appeals, the County’s Chief Assessor will forward the new assessed property values to each municipality and school district.
January 2020 – All taxing authorities will use the new assessed values to establish taxes. County and municipal taxes will be due by June 30, 2020; school taxes will be due September 30, 2020.
