Public Works and Middle Smithfield Township volunteers will be cleaning roads and streets within the Township. This event will take place on Saturday, October 3rd, starting at 8:00am.
The 1,000 feet of street concept started with just a few volunteers and has now grown. “As we prepare for the holiday season and want to showcase our businesses with the Shop Local campaign, we want residents and visitors to see a clean and beautiful township” said Mike Dwyer, Township Supervisor and Director of Public Works.
Given the success of the clean-up effort in the spring (over 12 miles of road were cleaned of debris!), this fall promises to be successful too. “Whether you have 5 minutes or 50 minutes, or an hour or two, every little bit helps, and we’d love to see you!” said Karen Stapleton, an organizer for the event. Volunteers who are not available for the first shirt can drop by the township building and directed to a location throughout the day.
The first shift of volunteers will meet at the Township building at 8am on the morning of October 3rd for supplies, be split into groups, and depart to various locations throughout the Township to beautify Middle Smithfield. Middle Smithfield Township will provide reflective vests, road crew signs, and other supplies as needed.
