W. Leroy Lewis Dog Park features two open spaces with tall fences to provide running room for dogs both big and small. The park was temporarily located at Judy Putek Memorial Park, but moved to its present location in 2015, with a ribbon cutting in September of that year. Already popular in its first location, the Dog Park has quickly become one of the area's most popular parks.
In the winter, the Dog Park is home to the Township's temporary Ice Rink for skating.
"The Middle Smithfield Dog Park is a great example of what vision, planning, and collaboration can do. Many passionate dog lovers saw a need and made a plan. The park will benefit the entire community to provide a social setting for pups to play and an area that other organizations may access, such as AWSOM. Congratulations. Hope this is the first of others to follow in areas throughout the county!" - Sandra Fellon, President of AWSOM
At their meeting on December 28, 2017, the Township Board of Supervisors voted to change the name of the Middle Smithfield Township Dog Park to the W Leroy Lewis Dog Park in honor of Leroy Lewis, the park's long time caretaker. A new sign reflecting the name change was installed in January. A rededication ceremony took place on Saturday January 27, 2018 to unveil the sign.
