Emergency Services

There are a number of emergency service providers that cover Middle Smithfield Township.

The Township donates to the vital services via the Fire Tax and EMS Tax, which were enacted in June 2024.

The Fire Tax is 0.5 mils and is split between the 3 Volunteer Fire Companies that cover Middle Smithfield Township. Each of the following fire companies will receive up to a designated percentage of the total tax amount that is collected each fiscal year. Bushkill Fire Company (up to 17%), Marshalls Creek Fire Company (up to 66%) and Shawnee Fire Company (up to 17%).

The EMS Tax is 0.4 mils and is split between the 4 Volunteer EMS providers that cover Middle Smithfield Township. Each of the following fire companies will receive up to a designated percentage of the total tax amount that is collected each fiscal year. Bushkill Emergency Corps (up to 65%), Lehman Pike EMS (up to 14%), Suburban EMS (up to 14%) and Marshalls Creek Fire Company EMS (up to 7%).

These essential services must be preserved and the entire amount of the Fire and EMS Tax that the Township receives is paid to the service providers.
